AMUCO, UCM to jointly observe June 18

The United Committee Manipur (UCM) and All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) have decided to jointly observe the June 18 anniversary at Kekrupat from this year.
Briefing media persons today at the office of AMUCO, president of UCM Y Nabachandra and AMUCO president KT Rehman said the two organisations would jointly observe the June 18 anniversary at Kekrupat from this year.
18 protesters were killed while several others sustained injuries while protesting the Bangkok declaration of the Govt of India and NSCN-IM on June 18, 2001 .
The UCM had since then observed the day separately as 'The Great June Uprising' while the same day had been observed as 'Unity Day' by the AMUCO.
An Observation Committee has been formed by the two bodies for the June 18 anniversary observance programme this year, leaders of the two bodies said.

KT Rehman is the chairman of the Observation Committee while convenor of the committee is secretary general of UCM, Joychandra Konthoujam.
Secretary of AMUCO, NC Modhu-chandra is the co-convenor.
Considering the requests of the public, the decision for joint observance of the June 18 Anniversary has been reached, the two leaders said while also conveying their gratitude to the public for their encouragement.
Earlier the two organisations observed the day separately, with many calling for a joint observation.
