Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is said to have assured to induct members of Red Cross Society to the State Monitoring Cells of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
While speaking at World Red Cross Society function held at the office of Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur, MG Avenue, Society General Secretary Prof Y Mohen said that the Union Health Minister gave his assurance during a meeting with the members of Indian Red Cross Society a few days back.
Prof Y Mohen also expressed hope that NHRM, which is a component of UPA Government's flagship programme, would get a boost in its effective implementation if members of Red Cross are inducted into the State Monitoring Cells.
Y Mohen further said that selected needy widows of the State are likely get welfare funds from the International Red Cross Society from next year as the society has directed the Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur to send DPR regarding the project.
Saying that the Red Cross is also planning to provide artificial limbs to land mine victims, Y Mohen further said that the Red Cross would also make appeal to State and non-State actors to shun war.
The gathering also paid floral tribute to the father of Red Cross Henry Dunant.
