Spurious packaged drinking water

Claiming detection of solid substances in packaged drinking water branded 'Alpine', Deputy Food Safety Commissioner T Brojendro Khaba asserted that relevant action against the manufacturers would be initiated after consulting the Director (Health), who is currently out of station.
Informing about collection of some bottles of the packaged drinking water brand from an Imphal East district area, brojendro told media persons at the Food Safety office located in the Directorate of health Services campus, Lamphelpat, that some individuals who were attending a public feast at an Imphal East location spotted solid substances inside the bottled drinking water and conveyed the information on May 6 .
identifying the manufacturer as Luwangshangbam-based NE Water Solutions & Beverages, the Commissioner appealed to the common public not to use the said brand as the product do not comply with prescribed norms of Bureau of indian Standards, such as embossing ISI mark and 'Packaged drinking water' in block letters.
