CNPO submits memo to CM

Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi demanding an amicable solution to the issue of beating up of two Maring youths by some personnel of Thoubal district police.
The memorandum alleged that the police personnel threatened the youths to give road tax saying that Meipho dam falls under the jurisdiction of Thoubal district.
The memorandum further alleged that Kakching A/C MLA Y Surchandra, who came along with his security escorts, deleted the words 'Chandel District' with black colour from a signboard at Meiphi Dam.
Volunteers of CNPO were the eye witness of the said incident, the memorandum said.
The memorandum added that Khangshim, Nungourok, Koroupokpi, Island and Beularam villages and Meiphi dam fall under the jurisdictional area of Chandel district.
Saying that the people of Chandel district are unhappy with the conduct of the MLA, CNPO urged the Chief Minister to instruct the MLA to apologise and impose fine against him according to the customary law within one month.
The memorandum further said that the matter would be complained not only to the Supreme Court, CBI, RTI, NHRC etc but also to Congress President Sonia Gandhi for his removal if the MLA fails to apologise within the given time period.
