Chemists to go on strike

As part of the proposed nationwide bandh being called by All India Organisation of Chemist and Druggists (AIOCD) on 10th May, Manipur Chemist & Druggist Association (MCDA) has appealed to all to make necessary arrangement for emergency cases during the strike in which around 7.5 lakhs chemists in the country would go on a-day-long agitation.
The main agitation that would include dharna and morcha would be held at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, where chemists from neighbouring states and participants from across the country would take part.
Denouncing the unjustified policies of government and its impact on medicine dealer fraternities, AIOCD has declared the nationwide agitation, while placing demands like maintain trade margin of medicines and no to reduction in trade margin as proposed in new drug policy; solution for pharmacist related issues; amendment of the Rule 65(15) (c) of Drug & Cosmetic Rules to allow only qualified persons to dispense medicines; relief under Section 19 of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940; non-operational of foreign direct investment in pharma trade.
