A Manipuri girl who was molested by a neighbour at her own home at Gurgaon withdrew her case following police harassment.
The victim works in a shopping mall in Gurgaon and lives along with two cousin brothers.
Earlier during the day, police in Gurgaon confirmed the report of a 23-year-old Manipur woman being molested at her home.
Police said that they registered a case after the unnamed victim contacted them.
They said the victim had told them that she had forgotten to lock the door after entering her home.
The victim claimed that the police unnecessarily questioned her about why she was staying with her cousin brothers.
With police raising question over her character in staying with two cousin brothers, one of them happen to be from a different village and subsequent to the arrest of the said cousin brother by the police, the victim withdrew her police complaint.
"It is unfortunate that the victim and her two cousin brothers went to the police seeking help but they were harassed and arrested instead of helping them", spokesperson of North East Support Centre and Helpline Modhuchandra has lamented.
