Imphal, December 20 2014:
There is need to fine tune the post production works if one has to make quality films, said Utpal Borpujari, a jury of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) .
This was stated during a film screening cum interaction session held at MFDC preview theatre today.
Utpal is a curator of North East films at IFFI and Fragrance of North East Film Festival, "Films from North East States can be popularised in the International market if local subjects are featured in a way to attract the attention of foreign audience", he added.
"We need to work a lot on scripting and there are many workshops wherein many foreign experts impart training to local talents.
I am working on my script and have reworked it 12 times for my upcoming film.
Young filmakers should attend such workshops to gain up-to-date knowledge", said Utpal Borpujari, who is also a journalist, film critic and a filmaker.
Songs of Blue Hills, a film which has participated in numerous international film festivals, was screened in today's programme.
It was followed by interaction sessions with Utpal and with O Gautam, noted filmaker of Manipur.
They shared their experience of their participation in the recently concluded IFFI.
They said that they watched around 186 films in the first round, which was followed by another 60 films in the next round at IFFI.
Coming back -to Manipuri film scenario, O Gautam said, "We need to put in extra works in scripting and screenplay for better production of feature films.
A sound engineer can also enhance the quality of a film in many ways.
We need to focus on post production which is normally ignored in Manipur.
We should give up the habit of releasing the film after shooting and editing are completed.
We need to work more on colour correction and final looks of the film to gamer quality film" .
He said that only two films from Manipur were applied for the Indian Panorama this time.
Utpal said, "We have to make film for International audience.
We need to approach International funding to make films.
Subjects which can be understood by International audience must be chosen" .
He said that Marathi filmakers have done very well in the last five years and people have started watching these films generating huge profits for them these days.
Today's event was organized by Television and Cine Foundation.
