Three women among six held with drugs

Imphal, April 21 2022: A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) police station apprehended two women along with 1.26 kg of heroin from Khenjang village in Churachandpur district on Thursday.

The apprehended women have been identified as Nengneihoi Haokip (25) wife of Goumang Zou of Satang village under Saikul AC and Nemjahat Haokip (40) wife of Thangminhao Haokip of Thadou Veng under Singhat AC but presently staying at Zion Veng.

Police sources said that the NAB team arrested them along the heroin consignment which was hidden in 100 soap cases from Khenjang village area around 2.35 pm Thursday.

NAB PS has registered a case in this regard.

Another woman along with a male accomplice has also been apprehended by a joint team Manipur Police and Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (South) from a Churachandpur district area on Thursday.

While informing that the combined team intercepted a Bolero vehicle (MN01-G0851) at Mobile Vehicle Check Post near Tuilehluan village in Churachandpur district, a source said that on search of the vehicle, 840 grams of brown sugar kept in 70 soap cases and worth about Rs 1.68 crore were recovered from a hidden compartment near fuel tank of the vehicle.

The recovered items along with the drug peddlers identified as Nemneihing Haokip (32) w/o Holmang Haokip of Moreh and Robert Hmar (23) s/o Darhkholoi Hmar have been handed over to Churachandpur Police for further investigation.

Meanwhile, a team of Imphal West District Commandos arrested two people with drugs from Thangmeiband Watham Leirak crossing on Thursday.

The arrested people have been identified as Md Muzamin Hussain (38) s/o (L) Md Kayamuddin of Khomidok Heikrumakhong Bazar and Md Amir Khan (34) s/o Md Abdul Latif of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Makha Leikai.

Around 34gm of heroin were seized from their possession.

According to a police report, the team arrested Muzamin and Amir, who were driving in from Khoyathong direction on an Activa (MN 01 AH 9562), from Thangmeiband Watham Leirak crossing around 6 am.

The team seized 27 plastic vials containing 34 gm of heroin, two mobile phones, Rs 1380 in cash from their possession, along with the Activa.

Both the arrested people and the seized items have been handed over to Imphal PS for further course of legal action, the report conveyed.
