Imphal, October 15 2015 :
Zeliangrong Union, Longmai Zone appealed to the Zeliangroong Baudi, Manipur Sector to shift the proposed ZB Assembly venue which is scheduled to be held at Longmai (Noney) on October 24 somewhere else in the greater interest of the Zeliangrong people.
In a statement, ZU (Longmai Zone) Chairman MK Pougongrei said that Noney is the head office of the Zeliangrong Union, Longmai Zone and also the native village of the ZU President (AMN).
So, ZU's plan to hold the Assembly at Noney will give a negative image to the common people and it may be a blunder to the work on unity taken by the Zeliangrong people.
MK Pougongrei said that ZU (AMN) has been working for the unity and integrity of the Zeliangrong people living in the three States since 1925 and even recently it started working on to bring a single apex body (ZU & ZB) .
The ZU (AMN) is committed to the decision taken on March 6, 2014 at Hotel Zafu, Nagaland to bring a single apex body under the convenorship of TR Zeliang, Chief Minister of Nagaland in the interest of the Zeliangrong people and has taken the decision of the union assembly to form a Zeliangrong single apex body.
While Zeliangrong Baudi has given no positive response to the said matter till date and it is trying to turnish the good image of ZU (AMN) by using logo and head office address and the year of establishment of ZU, it said.
"The ZU does not welcome any organisation working against the unity of Zeliangrong people and the ZU is the original and legitimate organisation set up by our forefather," it added.
