Sanjenthong bridge construction unlikely to finish before Sangai Festival

Manipur Sangai Festival is approaching, but there is still uncertain about completion of the under construction Sanjenthong bridge and the State Government is keeping silent on it.
Simplex Company is entrusted with the task of construction of the four-lane bridge.
The construction of the bridge is now almost finished, but it is still desperate to learn that the footpath measuring around 5 ft in breadth on both sides of the bridge is now in the first stage of construction.

Chief Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD), M Lokendro who inspected the bridge on Thursday said that the target completion period of the bridge was September.
However, Simplex Company has assured that the bridge will be completed before the Sangai Festival which begins on November 21 .
The bridge is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 32 crore.
It measures 55.8 m in length and 22.7 m in breadth.
