Non devolution of powers to grass root level hampers devt: Lunthang

Solar Street Lamp were distributed to three churches and one Children home under 13 finance commissions at a simple function held at the Sapormeina residence of by Lunthang Haokip, Executive Member, ADC Sadar Hills this morning at around 7:30 am.
Speaking to local media, the EM continued that no grass root level development will be witnessed until the Government devolves complete powers to District Council.
He added that grass root level development in slow-motion is the visible attestation of the outcome of non-devolution of complete powers to district council by the Governments.
"According to the 2008 Amendment Act, there are 26 departments under District Council but except 50 per cent from TA&H Department no other department never devolves nothing till now", a visibly discontented Lunthang added.
The Executive Member further continued that if the state Government devolves the lay down powers to District Council in DRDA schemes like MSTP, IAY, etc.

The ADC Sadar Hills EM further maintained that Sadar Hills and Senapati district share all the development programs, schemes and funds of one district due to Sadar Hills being a non full-fledged district which is also one of the key factors for sluggish development in both the district.
Therefore, the State Government should initiate proper measures for early installation Deputy Commissioner at Sadar Hills so as to avail complete developmental packages and funds for smooth and convenient governance as well as grass root level development urged Lunthang.
While distributing Solar Street Lamp to G.Kholep Baptist Church; Khokheng Baptist Church; L.Khomunnom Baptist Church and Loagos Children Home; Lunthang Haokip assured that other facilities under Prime Minister Package will also be distributed sooner or later to selected beneficiaries.
