IW ASP calls for keeping Ima keithel in best form

The Bless wishing ceremony which is being observed every year by vendors of Ima Market was held today at the three Ima Markets along with offering floral tributes to Goddess Imoinu Ima.
The observance started off early in the morning with traditional rendering of Pena Yakairol echoing through throughout the market area.
And it was followed by performing of rites and rituals.
All the vendors of Ima Market participated in the ceremony and made their own contributions in whatever way they can.
As part of the observance, a meeting was also conducted with all the women folks taking part in it.
N Herojit, Addl SP of Imphal West; L Rajen, Reader of Imphal West SP;, N Modhunimai, SDPO of Imphal West and City Police OC RK Tejbir were also present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, N Herojit said that in spite of all the unwanted happenings, protests and agitations; construction of the three Ima Markets was ultimately completed under the guidance of State Government.
Considering the uniqueness of Ima Markets and its historical significance, all the women vendors should take the markets as their own property and keep them in their best possibly way.
He further stated that since almost all tourists visiting the state have the desire to get a glimpse of the three Ima Keithels, we need to preserve the value of Ima Keithels and show the world at its best.
He also appealed to all the vendors of Ima keithel to keep the market neat and clean and to dispose the garbages generated at proper places without scattering around.
We should not wait for the officials of IMC to come and clean it up for us, he added.
The Addl SP also stressed on the need to extend help to volunteers of Kanglei Economic Development Organisation (KEDO) who are doing their best to keep the Ima Keithel neat and clean.
The KEDO is neither run nor funded by the state government.
L Rajen also emphasized on the need to help the volunteers of KEDO saying that it is run under the Committee for Operation of Public Utilities inside the newly constructed three Markets, Khwairamband Bazaar, with SP of Imphal West as chairman.
