Imphal, August 08, 2012:
The Thadou Students' Association (TSA) today said the digital Manipuri film "Mami" (The Image) is morally offensive as it lowers the dignity of one's community and expressed unhappy over the production and telecasting of such 'objectionable' film.
The tribal students' body warns that such 'malpractice' cannot not be tolerated any further and dubbed the rated film produced by Nongja Film Productions and directed by Jitendra Ningombam as an unsavoury film.
They do not accept broadcasting and marketing of such bad film wherein traditional clothes or shawls of the Thadou (Khamtang) are worn by some actresses playing the role of prostitutes, the students' association said and accused Jitendra, the director of the film, of staining the traditional shawl of the community which is blasphemous to it.
It also warned anybody taking such role and blemishing the traditional clothe should not be forgiven and appealed to the Manipuri film firm not to broadcast any film that can highten tension among communities, informing that it should have taken approval of the Thadou Tribe Council for Thadou Traditional Custumes while making such film.
CDSU had already announced a ban on the digital format film Mami saying it shows the district in bad light.
