Manipur Legislative Assembly's Hill Areas Committee meeting

A meeting of Manipur Legislative Assembly's Hill Areas Committee was convened today wherein three agendas were taken up for deliberation.
The meeting which lasted for over four hours and held under the chairmanship of the Committee Chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo focused on the report of the Sub committee, issues pertaining to according 'reserved seat' status to Kangpokpi assembly constituency and action plan for the Hill Areas of Manipur during the 12th five year plan (2012-17) submitted by the Tribal Affairs and Hill Department.
Speaking to the Sangai Express, Dr Chaltonlien confided that the Committee members in-principal approved 'report of the sub-committee' subject to amendment, if needed.
With regard to the reserve seat status to Kangpokpi AC it is said that the committee refrained from taking any decision on the ground that the issue necessitates further deliberation with all concerned.
The HAC session also noted that the agenda on Action Plan needing more suggestions/propositions will be more appropriate to accommodate all the viewpoints, said the Chairman.
Besides, Dr Chaltonlien the said meeting was also attended by Home Minister Gaikhangam, PR&RD Minister Francis Ngajokpa, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, and MLAs TN Haokip and Nemcha Kipgen.
Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing and MLA Victor Keishing did not attend the meeting for both are reportedly out of station.
