KNO, UPF take joint decision on new outfits

Kuki National Organisation and United Peoples' Front (UPF) has taken a joint decision on formation of new outfits during the current situation and asserted the two groups will counter such moves collectively and effectively.
In a joint statement, KNO & KNF Convenor Calvin H and Co-Convenor TS Haokip stated that KNO and UPF have committed to the political survival of the people and it is towards this end that Suspension of Operation (SoO) was signed with the Government to initiate a peaceful political process.
The statement said the three "anti tribal" Bills recently passed by the State Assembly have awakened the political consciousness of the tribal which also triggered waves of mass movement against the Bills leading to the lost of nine martyrs.
KNO and UPF saluted the tribal martyrs for their supreme sacrifices and shared the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family members.
The incident has become an opportunity to highlights the inevitable political separation for the tribal communities of Manipur, the statement said.
The KNO and UPF have unanimously decided to pursue common political objectives which would be nothing less than a "State Status" by sending joint delegation to Delhi and recently worked out its common political road map on November 25.They will remain vibrant and committed in their political causes, said the joint statement.
The two organisations also supported the Joint Committee against Anti Tribal Bills (JAC); Joint Philanthropic Organisation (JPO); Manipur Tribal Forum formed in various cities and towns, Innpis, Church leaders and a host of civil organisations in their movement against the three Bills.
The UPF and KNO urged the people to remained focus and not misled by subsidiary issues of the people and welcome various opinions expressed for the betterment of the people.
