Exempt artists from purview of directives by orgns: Rewben

Noted folk-blues Tangkhul singer Guru Rewben Mashangva on Sunday appealed all organisations in the State to exempt performing artists from the purview of politically motivated bans imposed by them.
Guru Rewben in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal expressed his dismay with the decision of some organisations that had asked Nagas not to attend the forthcoming Orange Festival to be held in Tamenglong from December 9 .
He informed that many performing artists and bands had decided to participate in the Orange Festival but they have also expressed disappointment with the decision taken by some organisations.
He appealed the organisations not to include the artists and bands from the purview of their directives.
Guru Rewben stated that performers and artists do not have boundaries and they should be allowed to perform anywhere.
He reminded that many performers from different countries had also staged shows and organised gigs in countries considered inimical to theirs to freely showcase their talents.
It may be mentioned that Guru Rewben has just returned from China after attending the 4th India-China Handshake Concert held at Kunming Theatre located at Yunnan Province on November 27 .
He represented Battle and Hum Music Society for the State as well as the India.
He informed that the Handshake Concert in China aspires to bring the world closer and aims to provide all participants/ performers and audiences, a platform and an avenue to better appreciate each others' culture.
