Thoubal, December 07 2021:
The 27th death anniversary of former Minister Moirang-them Ibotombi (Heirok Ibotombi) was held today under the aegis of Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Charitable Trust (MIMCT) at Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Complex in Thoubal district.
At the observance which was held under the theme "Live and Let's Live", wife of the late politician Moirangthem (O) Ibemhal led a crew of Congress leaders including ex-Chief Minister O Ibobi, CWC Member Gaikhangam, MPCC president N Loken, AICC Manipur in-charge and former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das in paying floral tributes at the memorial of the ex-Minister.
Speaking as the chief guest at the main programme which was held at Heirok Part-II Mayai Leikai, CLP leader O Ibobi stated that the act of governing the State or country at large through intimidation is cowardice.
Continuing that the acts of violence seems to be more rampant at Heirok these days, the former Chief Minister reiterated that trying to sway the electors through intimidation or violence is nothing but cowardice.

Maintaining that such instances were never the case during the Congress rule, O Ibobi contended that the incumbent Government, however, is intimidating even the State employees who disapprove their instructions.
"This is unbecoming of representatives who were elected by the people", he said.
Asserting that there is no place of violence in a democratic Nation, O Ibobi urged the people to teach the Government a befitting lesson for their wrongdoings in the ensuing Assembly elections.
President of MIMCT Moirangthem Okendro, who also is a former Minister, said that Heirok has become a victim of different atrocities.
Claiming that the valour which was prevalent among the denizens of Heirok in the past seems to have been subdued by the BJP-led Government which loots and intimidates people, Okendro maintained that people's trust should be earned with affection and not otherwise.
"Nobody is paying any attention to the plight of Heirok people today", he said and claimed that the acts of poll related violence are also happening in the constituency quite frequently.
During the observance, Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Pension Scheme was distributed to 2,223 beneficiaries.
Pensions were also distributed to several widows and Persons with Disabilities.
Former Ministers I Hemochandra, Moirangthem Hemanta, Thoubal District Congress Committee (TDCC) president Lukhoi and members of Heirok Block Congress Committee (HBCC) also attended the programme.
