Two from state crack UPSC mains

Two Manipuris have made to the list of 685 successful candidates of the Civil Services Examination, 2021, conducted by Union Public Services Commission (UPSC), who have been recommended for appointment based on the results of written examination and interview for personality test.
Wairokpam Punshiba (rank 238) and Makakmayum Hoshni Mubarak (rank 575) were included in the final list, which was released in order of merit.
Wairokpam Punshiba is the son of Wairokpam Iboyaima and Premila of Thounaojam Mayai Leikai under Nambol assembly constituency.
He pleared the examination in his second attempt.
Makakmayum Hoshni Mubarak is the son of Mk Qutubuddin and Rahmatun Bibi of Yairipok Ningthounai Mayai Leikai under Andro assembly constituency and he cleared the examination in his fifth attempt.
The written examination for Civil Services Examination, 2021 was conducted in January, 2022 and the interview for personality test in April and May.
Altogether, six candidates from the northeast region cleared the prestigious examination.
This year, as many as 685 candidates qualified the country's prestigious examination with the top three positions secured by the female candidates.
Shruti Sharma topped the CSE 2021, while Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla came as second and third toppers, respectively.
Of the successful candidates, 244 are from general category, 73 from economically weaker sections, 203 from other backward classes, 105 from scheduled castes and 60 from the scheduled tribes, as per the successful candidates list issued by the Commission.
This time none from the tribal community of Manipur made it to the successful list.
