AR units organise pre-yoga day events

Imphal, May 30 2022:
44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/IGAR (East) organised week-long 'Yog Shivir" at Tamenglong Helipad in the run-up to the celebration of International Day of Yoga.
In a release, PIB Defence informed that the week-long event kick-started on Monday in the backdrop of scenic hills of Tamenglong is a part of the unit's ongoing initiatives to inspire "Mass Movement for Health and Well Being" through Yoga.
Common yoga protocols, yoga postures and demonstration were some of the activities undertaken by the Battalion at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, commandant 44 Assam Rifles stressed on the importance of yoga in everyone's life and pointed out that with advancement in technology and modernisation lifestyle of the people have changed to a great extent often leading to many life style diseases.
There is a greater need for everyone to remain fit and save ourselves and our families from these diseases, he maintained and expressed hope that the event will help create wider awareness among the participants about the importance of yoga in daily life.
Meanwhile, Loktak Battalion IGAR (S) conducted yoga sessions to commemorate 8th International Day of Yoga 2022 at various places in Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts on May 28 .
According to PRO IGAR (S), the events were organised to spread awareness and benefits of yoga amongst the troops and families.
Specific emphasis was laid down at ways and means to improve the overall lifestyle of troops and also to combat various diseases through practice of yoga.
The event witnessed active participation of troops and families residing in garrison and at the forward posts of both districts.
