CM interacts with Maram Community; assures to address their issues

Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh had an interaction with the Maram Community of Senapati District at the Chief Minister's Secretariat today.
Leaders and representatives from Maram Community highlighted their pledge to stop any illegal cultivation of poppy and drugs related business at their areas in support of the War on Drug Campaign initiated by the Chief Minister.
The Community leaders highlighted the various problems faced by them mainly lack of healthcare facilities and drinking water facilities, no proper SDO office, police station and handloom and handicraft training centres at their areas.
The Chief Minister appreciated the Maram Community for the decision they have taken against illegal plantation of poppy, drug smuggling and ban of any form of drug in their areas.

The Chief Minister also thanked the Maram people for their constant support during the "Go To Village Mission" programmes.
He further emphasized on the need of setting up of Anti-Drug Women Cell at every locality to eradicate drug problems.
Addressing the concern raised by the representatives of the community during the interaction, Chief Minister assured to the representatives that handloom and handicraft centre based on modern technology will be set up at Senapati District Headquarter.
With regard to drinking water, he said that he will instruct the Minister concerned for the settlement of water problems.
For SDO and police station he informed that steps will be taken up for the construction of the same at the earliest.
The Chief Minister also informed that the PHC of Maram Khullen village will be upgraded to CHC after the recruitment process of doctors is completed.
The Chief Minister urged to those who are running business on drugs to come out voluntarily and surrender for the safety of families and precious lives, for which no action will be taken against them.
He further appealed to the people especially people in and around Imphal Valley areas to abandon drug business for the safety of precious lives and future generation.
He also asserted that the incumbent Government will not tolerate and compromise on illegal drug business, plantation of poppy, corruption and destruction of forests.
The Chief Minister appealed to the Government officials to think and work for the land, people, environment and future generation rather than working for personal gains.
