Imphal, May 30 2022:
Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) has alleged that a teacher of Lamlong Higher Secondary School has been drawing salary without attending school for the past many months and urged the Education Department to terminate the irresponsible teacher.
In connection with the matter, a press conference was held at the office of FESOK at Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai today.
Addressing the media persons, president of FESOK Ningthouja Romesh informed that the survey team of FESOK found out that a Mathematics teacher named Kh Ranju of Lamlong Higher Secondary School located at Khurai Thoudam Leikai has not been attending the school for the past few months.
He went on to state that the student body came across the matter when the survey team conducted an inspection visit at the school and discovered that the said teacher had not signed in the attendance register for the past few months.
The president further informed that it has also been found that the teacher is also unpunctual when it comes to taking online classes and teaching the students even during the Covid times.
Expressing concern over the trend of substitutes taking the place of the actual teachers and teachers drawing salary without attending school in various schools of the State, he said that such irresponsible acts from the part of the teachers who are responsible for educating the students is really unfortunate.
Romesh opined that if such a trend continues, then the upcoming students will have a bleak future.
Therefore he urged the Government and Education Department to take stringent actions against such imprudent teachers and to terminate them and to appoint eligible ones who can nurture the students properly.
FESOK has also been striving earnestly to bring a positive change in the education sector and to work for the welfare of students, he added.
