UNACCO school eyeing to compete in national level

As UNACCO celebrated its 21st foundation day at the campus of UNACCO Residential School at Chanung in Imphal East district on Tuesday, UNACCO managing director N Irabanta said that the residential school will henceforth compete at the national level.
The foundation day celebration was organised in two sessions.
In the morning session, Sagolband MLA RK Imo led the participants in planting tree saplings in the school campus.
UNACCO Calendar 2023 was also released on the occasion.
The afternoon session was attended by Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar, N Irabanta and Makeng Dolaithabi ZP member N Sanatomba as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Irabanta maintained that school is an institution for developing human resources and future pillars of the society.
Bio-data of popular officers & politicians and successful entrepreneurs will be displayed in the library hall of the residential school in order to encourage students.
The residential school being set up at Chanung will henceforth compete at the national level.
Half of the teaching staff will be recruited from outside the state and is hopeful of getting international students, he said.
The managing director further informed that only 5 acres of land out of 50 will be used for school building while the rest will be utilised for outdoor activities, including a hockey field and court for other sports.
While noting that Manipuri students face various hardships in studying in reputed schools in other states due to difference in climatic condition and food habit, he expressed confidence that the Chanung school will solve these problems and provide an affordable world class education facility to the students of the state as well.
He also thanked the local population for their support to the project.
In his address, MLA Lokeshwar commended UNACCO for its services in human resource development and financial sector for the past 21 years and said that it has been providing jobs to several youth of the state.
The land plot was provided to UNACCO following an agreement of using it only for educational purpose but not for other commercial purposes, he said and expressed elation that UNACCO is upholding the agreement.
The MLA also wished that the residential school will emerge as one of the top residential schools of the country.
He then revealed that UNACCO is planning to inaugurate the school in February this year, and expressed hope that the school will provide quality and affordable education to the students.
The school will also help in bringing development in the area, which is otherwise a backward area of the state, Lokeshwar added.
