Imphal, October 25 2022:
Khwairamband Keithel Street Vendors' Welfare Union president Laitonjam Beda has urged the government to be sincere in its approach towards resolving the issues faced by street vendors instead of ignoring the issues.
Speaking on the sidelines of a sit-in protest staged at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall here on Monday, Beda pointed out that the street vendors have been working hard for a long time to feed and take care of their families.
However, some of the street vendor leaders are looking out for their own interests and ignoring the plight of other street vendors.
Urging the government to allow the street vendors to do their trades at the Temporary market and uphold their rights, Beda further urged for saving the life of street vendors and their families.
Furthermore, Khwairamband Keithel Street Vendors' Welfare Union is a registered body and has been paying taxes to the Imphal Municipal Corporation.
As such, she appealed to the Chief Minister and the MAHUD minister to look into the matter and mitigate sufferings of the street vendors.
