R-Day: Police senses possible UG strike

Sensing possible bomb attacks by different UG groups to disrupt Republic Day celebration, Manipur Police have taken up all means to avert such attacks which might cause harm to the public.
According to a highly placed source, different UG groups in the State are planning to plant bombs and carry out massive attacks to disrupt Republic Day celebration in different parts of the State.
Considering the possible attacks, all the police personnel have been alerted and round the clock patrolling in suspected areas stepped up.
Search operations are also being carried in different parts, the source informed.
The Kangla, where the Republic Day celebration would be held is being guarded by security personal in three different layers, so as to avoid any unwanted incidents from happening, it added.
The source further informed that among the UG groups suspected of launching bomb attacks includes PLA, MPA and PREPAK (Pro) and PREPAK Red Army.
It is said that the full dress Rehearsal of Republic Day parade would be conducted at Imphal on January 23rd from 7 am.
Considering the full dress Rehearsal and the main function of Republic Day celebration, certain Traffic regulations have been imposed.
Accordingly, no vehicle except that of VIPs and invitees having valid car passes issued by the State Home Department shall be allowed to ply towards north of Sing & Co, Moirangkhom, Keishampat to Khwai Bazar, Maharani Bridge -Dukanthong, Babuthong and Khuyathong; Khuyathong to North AOC and Sanjenthong to Western Gate of Kangla and Keishampat Bridge on 23rd and 26th January respectively, till the functions are over.
