Training prog on instructional aids begins

A three-day training programme on 'Training methods and instructional aids' organised by ministry of Agriculture's Extension Education Institute in association with Department of Agriculture commenced from today at the Sanjenthong conference hall of Directorate of Agriculture.
In his programme inauguration speech, Veterinary and Animal husbandry Director Dr Saidokhum Joute emphasising on cooperation between different departments to ensure effective implementation of agriculture-related programmes also exuded confidence that cohesion amongst link departments could address problems of farmers.
Taking into account rapid change in climate there is need for a common approach to tackle the challenge and help the farmers contribute in the development of the state, expressed the Director.
Director (Agriculture) G Shamu Kabui in his address said that as a component of the Prime Minister's flagship programme to intensify agriculture-related activities area specific programmes are being carried out under the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in all the States and union territories.
Even though ATMA was launched in the year 2005-06 in the country, the same is being implemented in Manipur since 2007, said the Director while elaborating that in the state's context ATAM programmes are being taken up in 60 blocks of the nine districts.
Explaining that ATMA is a Centre's vision to boost the Growth Domestic Product of the country with a composite development programme for horticulture, agriculture, sericulture and livestock farmer, including aquaculture, Shamu Kabui informed that nearly four lakh households would be covered by ATMA.
Director (Horticulture) K Ngachan and Jorhat-based EEI Assam Agriculture University's Dr AK Bhattacharya also attended the inaugural programme.
On the first day's technical session, during which Dr Bhattacharya highlighted on training need assessment and made course briefing, besides deliberating on 'concept of training, training need, objectives and overview of training method', his University colleague Dharmindra Bortamulya briefed the training participants on 'preparation and use of low cost AV aids' .
