Imphal, May 16 2015 :
Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has said that the bandh imposed along NH-37 by the JAC formed in connection with the killing of two labourers and physical assault on minor boy at Mapao Khullen had gone extreme.
In a statement, Dinreibou Thiumai, joint secretary of ZYF said that the JAC bandh which was announced to be imposed along NH-37 was not confined alone to the highway.
The act of delivering mob justice by the bandh supporters in killing Semkhongam Haokip, a shaktiman driver, physical assault on others and burning down of vehicles coming from Tamenglong and on Kangchup-Imphal, Kangchup-Leimakhong, Sangaithel-Leimakhong roads and other extreme acts wherein even sick persons were not spared in different places was totally unjustifiable, it said.
Such acts and the lack of mechanism to control the situation on the part of the Govt would not bring any good consequences in future, it said.
The State Govt should not remain a silent spectator to the incident but book the culprits involved in killing and assaulting people without showing any leniency, it added.
Any leniency to such acts may set bad example and precedence, it said, while adding that it is the duty and responsibility of every responsible people to raise the voice of objection in unison to such acts.
At the same time, the All Tribal Chiefs' Forum (ATCF) Manipur while condemning the brutal killing of two labourers at Thingsat, has equally condemned the killing of a driver, assault of others and burning down of a Church at Patsoi by protesters.
In a statement, Ningtinglung Kamei, information and publicity secretary, ATCF said the acts of the protesters at Patsoi even after arrest of the culprits involved in killing of the two labourers smacked of detestable hatred and ill will.
