MNF accepts defeat to Congress

Aizawl, December 10 2013: After suffering yet another debacle, Mizo National Front (MNF) president Zoramthanga made his maiden speech before party members at MNF party office here today consoling the disappointed members as their defeat is the purpose of God.

"We humbly accepted our defeat.

But Mizo Nationalism on the other hand remained invincible.

This is what makes us happy", MNF president said.

Addressing the public meeting held at Hnam Run, former rebel chief, Zoramthanga said that his party defeat in the much awaited assembly election was the will of God.

"We kept praying to God to give us not what is our want or desired number of votes, but to give us MLA and votes according to His wish.

I thanked God for he gave us this much of MLA which he think is adequate for us", Zoramthanga said.

He extended his gratitude to all voters who helped his party won 5 seats in the Assembly and also all the officials without whose hard work election would have been unsuccessful.

MNF President also congratulated all the Congress winning candidates on their success in the election.

"I am very glad with their success and in this juncture wish them to form good government according to God's will", MNF President said.

" It is painful for one to have failed in the election.

But it is not prudential to be frustrated and grumble just because things are not turning up as our wish.

Rather it is better we prepare ourselves to give thanks to God", Zoramthanga also said adding we will find out our mistakes and reason for our failure and hence we would make new strategy to move forward.

"It appears as a political custom and routine practice in Mizoram that the rule of single party usually last 10 years.

After 1988 election we had been placed in the opposition seat for 10 years.

Similarly during 1998 - 2008 we had grasped the power, while the Congress served as opposition in the assembly house during those 10 years".

For the second consecutive term Congress party has won the assembly election.

"In this regard we need to patience as God used to give human the ability to be patience according to the necessity of time", Zoramthanga added.

"Although we are ready to rule again, God has another purpose behind our failure.

He wanted the people to experience the cruelty of Congress government and learn from the general decadence brought in by Congress rule" MNF President said.
