With the objective of popularizing the RTI Act, 2005 and also to spread mass awareness amongst the stake holders, Manipur Information Commission will be celebrating the Right to Information Week-2016 from October 5 to 10 with financial assistance from the Department ofPersonnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India.
The opening ceremony of the RTI Week-2016 will be held at GM Hall, Imphal.
I Hemochandra Singh, Minister of Revenue, Forest & Environment, Manipur and O Nabakishore Singh, Chief Secretary, Govt of Manipur will grace the opening function as chief guest and president respectively.
The opening function will be followed by a State level workshop with eminent persons in the field of RTI as resources persons.
A RTI quiz competition with participants from 5 selected colleges will be held on October 6 at the auditorium of DM College of Arts & Commerce, Imphal.
A District Level Seminar will also be held at Ukhrul on October 7 as a part of the celebration.
The valedictory function will be held on October 10 at GM Hall, Imphal wherein prizes for RTI quiz competition will be distributed to winners.
State Chief Information Commissioner, Manipur Information Commission, Th Ibobi, in a statement, has invited all the Government Officers, First Appellant Authorities, State Public Information Officers, State Assistant Public Information Officers, RTI Activists, members of Civil Society organizations, NGOs, School/College students and citizens of Manipur to attend the RTI Week - 2016 celebration.
