CM takes digs at BJP, woos Kumbi AC

Taking digs at the BJP, Chief Minister O Ibobi today said that the Congress is averse to the idea of blindly accusing other political parties while this is the staple diet of the BJP.
Speaking at the one day political conference of the Congress at Kumbi Assembly Constituency today, the Chief Minister said that unlike the Congress, the BJP believes in indulging in hot air without any substance.
What the Congress wants is peace and development in the country and Manipur based on Ahimsa, said the Chief Minister and added that under the Congress, the State has experienced political stability.
It is imperative for the people to strengthen the Congress to ensure stability, peace and progress of the State, said the Chief Minister and added that the Congress does not believe in blowing hot air.
The Congress has never indulged in outlandish promises and will not do so, said Ibobi and added that it believes in being practical.
The party has not and will never neglect Kumbi AC, said Ibobi and added that whatever has been taken up in the State have also been taken up in Kumbi AC.
On the works taken up at Kumbi, the Chief Minister said that the process of laying the WBM on the Kumbi-Moirang road has been completed and soon the process of black topping the road will start.
On the lack of teachers at Boryangbi Upper Primary School, the Chief Minister assured that the vacancies will be filled up soon.
The Chief Minister also urged the voters of Kumbi AC to ensure that they elect the Congress candidate when the State goes to polls in the early part of next year.
MPCC (I) president TN Haokip who was also present said that unlike some other political parties the Congress does not believe in punching below the belt.
For 15 years the Congress has ruled the State and during this period communal harmony was maintained.
For this the Congress ought to be awarded, he added.
When the Congress party was in power at the Centre, it forwarded 40 pc subsidy to the tillers of the soil, said TN Haokip and added now with the BJP coming to power at Delhi, this subsidy has been withdrawn.
This point should not be lost on the farmers, he added.
5320 people who recently joined the Congress party were also warmly received during the one day political conference.
Kumbi AC MLA S Bira Singh in his address said that the gathering at the political conference is more than evident that the Congress candidate will emerge victorious after the election next year.
In the last 4 and half years, the people have witnessed what development is all about, he said and added that this has reinforced people's faith in the Congress.
Others who attended the one day political conference included Commerce Minister Govindas Konthoujam, MLA T Mangibabu, MLA N Loken Singh, MLA Dr I Ibohanbi, MLA M Prithiviraj.
