INC candidate demands re-poll for 8 booths

An INC candidate has urged the State Government to conduct re-poll for 18/3 Khambarol polling station where all votes had been allegedly rigged by the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) in favour of a BJP candidate.
Jangthang Mate, who contested the Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls from 18 Songjang constituency on June 1, made the appeal during a press meet at his residence on Tuesday.
He alleged that the Polling Officer allowed taking place the polling without the agent of Congress party.
Letkhomang Changpol, Lunminthang New Changpol, Khuplenthang Changpo, Lunminthang New Changpol were seriously beaten up by suspected UKLF cadres during the polling, he said.
Jangthang Mate said the UKLF cadres also snatched their mobile phones and robbed of Rs 2,000 in cash.
The INC candidate alleged that supporters of BJP also indulged in massive proxy voting in favour of the BJP candidate at seven polling stations at 41-Chandel under Songjang constituency.
He appealed to the Government to conduct re-poll to these polling stations.
