Imphal, December 19 2019:
Following a late evening meeting with the State Government and an assurance from the authorities to provide a model residential school for Khengjoi, KSO and KCA Khengjoi Blocks, have decided to call off their Imphal-Moreh road bandh with immediate effect.
However, the two associations cautioned that if the assurance of the Government does not materialise on or before January 26 next year, then an even larger scale agitation will be launched.
Earlier in the day before the meeting between the KCA and the State Government, Moreh town wore a deserted look.
A large number of bandh supporters came out on and blocked the road at various points.
Speaking to media persons, KSO Khengjoi Block president Sheikhokai Haokip, who was also among the bandh supporters near H Kotlenphai area, strongly condemned the attempt by the Government to shift the model residential school and announced that until and unless the Government changes it mind, the bandh will continue.
Members of Molnoi Area Welfare Council (MAWC), Kuki Women Union, Molnoi Area (KWU-MA), Molnoi Area Youth Union (MAYU) and Molnoi area chiefs were also among the bandh supporters in the H Kotlenphai area.
