NAB busts brown sugar laboratory

Imphal, December 19 2019:
A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) Manipur, busted a brown sugar laboratory located at the hill range of East Phijang village, near Saikul PS, yesterday.
Briefing media persons today, W Basu, SP, NAB, Manipur, explained that acting on reliable
information regarding the presence of a brown sugar laboratory at the hill range of East Phijang village, a team of NAB Manipur, under the command of RK Saklemba, Additional SP, led by Inspector Sh Chandrakumar, OC, NAB, rushed to the spot and conducted a raid.

During the raid, around 344 kg of brown sugar (remnants of processed opium), 500 litres of liquid opium (morphinated solution), 38 kg of lime, 5 bottles of ammonium chloride, 2 iron pressing machine, a gas frame with cylinder, hand gloves, a weighing scale and other items were seized from the spot.
The SP further said that some individuals engaged in the factory fled when the NAB team arrived at the spot taking advantage of poor visibility during the night.
He further reminded that NAB has been able to bust three brown sugar factories during the last few months.
