Imphal, May 16 2015 :
BJP Manipur Pradesh has blamed the State Government for resumption of agitation by Gwaltabi villagers in the form of blocking Imphal-Ukhrul road after the initial round of agitation was suspended following an understanding.
BJP Manipur Pradesh RTI Cell convenor Mongjam Poireihanba said that the Government's failure to provide any kind of assistance to the victimised villagers was responsible for the renewed agitation.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon, Poireihanba said that neither the Chief Minister nor the Chief Minister was present at the meeting held at the quarters of MLA Ksh Biren on May 3 even though Deputy Speaker Preshow Shimray, MLA Victor Keishing, leaders of Thawai village and representatives of the JAC Against Anti-Social Activities to Gwaltabi Village by Thawai Villagers were present.
As such, it is not sure whether Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam have any knowledge about the points of agreement reached at the meeting.
Nonetheless, as agreed at the meeting, it was reported that the Government would provide adequate assistance for the damages suffered by Gwaltabi villagers by May 15 .
MLA Ksh Biren did not say anything about the Government's commitment all these days while the Government has been maintaining complete silence.
It was this irresponsibility of the Government which compelled the JAC to resume blockade on Imphal-Ukhrul road.
The State Government, the Deputy Speaker and the two MLAs should be held accountable for any untoward incident in the course of the fresh agitation, Poireihanba said.
BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary and media-in-charge L Basanta said that he suspects political conspiracy behind different violent incidents which took place in different districts of the State recently.
He also appealed to people of all communities to keep calm and restrain from provoking one another.
