Skills development training concludes

Kangpokpi, February 08 2018:
A two-day skills development training under Demo village programme at FEEDS Centre, Hengbung, Kangpokpi District wrapped up today.
Around 50 participants across Kangpokpi and Senapati District took part in the training program.
The skill develpment training programme was organized and sponsored by the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI), Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education, Jorhat Assam in Association with Foundation for Environment and Economic Development Services (FEEDS) .
Esther Laltankim Serto, IFS, DFO, Kangpokpi inaugurated the two days training program yesterday in the presence of various scientist from RFRI and FEEDS, Hengbung officials, reports our corrrespondent.
The young IFS officer highlighted the value and importance of Agar wood � Nursery & Plantation as a livelihood option for the mountain communities while appreciating the efforts of FEEDS and RFRI in organizing such a creditable event.
Dr RK Borah, Scientist F and Dr RK Kalita, Scientist E of RFRI who led the classes during training session conducted hands-on training on Bamboo nursery, its management cultivation, preservation, treatment and value addition, Perkia mortality and Lac cultivation.
Meanwhile, Dr David Kamei, SMS of KVK-Sylvan, Hengbung stressed on Natural Resource Management.
Certificates and pamphlets were also distributed to the participants in a simple closing ceremony of the training programme.
