Workshop on National Deworming Day

A one day district level dissemination workshop on National deworming day was organised by the District Health Society Thoubal at the conference hall of District Health Society today, conveyed a press release issued by District Programme Manager of DHS, Thoubal.
A total of 52 officials including from ZEO Thoubal, DPO, ICDS and Medical officer in charge of CHCs and PHCs, ASHA facilitators, medical officers of RBSK Thoubal, Kakching and Lilong participated in the workshop.
District Leprosy Officer, Thoubal Dr Kh Homeshwar Singh, District Programme Manager of National Health Mission, Thoubal Ch Basanta Singh, DPM, SSA Thoubal Sh Mosaingam Monsang attended the event as dignitaries among others.
District Community Mobiliser of NHM, Thoubal highlighted the importance of organising the workshop.
During the event, Ch Basanta Singh explained the role of teachers, Anganwadi workers and ASHAs for successful implementation of National Deworming Day on February 13 and Mop Up Day on February 20 .
Underlining the role of CDPOs, supervisors of ICDS, he appealed all stakeholders to work hand in hand so that no children (1-19 yrs) are left out from taking Albendazole tablet, which prevents worm infection.
A total of 1,50,000 children from 1-19 years will be administered covering 449 Government schools and 145 private schools, it stated.
391 ASHAs and 1446 Anganwadi workers will take part in the programme.
During the workshop, Nodal officer of RBSK Thoubal Dr Khumukcham Trusty elaborated on National Deworming Day and regarding the distribution on IEC materials for Anganwadi and school teachers etc.
She appealed all private schools to collect Albendazole tablet and other IEC materials from the ZEO and Anganwadi workers concerned to collect the same from CDPOs concerned.
