Imphal, August 11 2011:
If the Secular Progressive Front government could not come to any conclusion regarding the demands of the Sadar Hills District hood Demand Committee where both the national highways of the state is under indefinite blockade, then the government should initiate an all political party meeting, proposed the Janata Dal (United) .
Speaking at a press conference held at the office of the JD(U), president JD(U), M Tomba said that the demand for converting Sadar Hills into a full fledged district came up as a result of the commitment given by the then party in power of the government.
The present government should come up with a specific stand of its own and made it known to
the public.
He further said that the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council has made it clear to the government that if the government does not declare Sadar Hills as a full fledged district by 15th of August then all ADC members would resign.
As a result if the administration of this region fails completely then the state government should be entirely responsible.
Therefore the government should decide whether or not Sadar Hills be given the status of a district.
Staying silent, doing nothing is a cowardly act.
SHDDC should also try to understand the motive behind the government's reluctant attitude in declaring Sadar Hills a District.
