The cabinet meeting held today evening with Chief Minister Okram Ibobi on the chair discussed the inconveniences and problems facing by the state government and the transporters in ferrying in essential commodities through the two NHs due to the ongoing general strike by SHDDC in demand of a full-fledged district.
Expressing serious concerns to the problems caused by the ongoing general strike, the cabinet asked SHDDC to withdraw its stand by August 15.If SHDDC failed to comply with the order of the government, the government will take up stern action and do its best to put an end to the menace.
If required, the government will take up legal actions against strike leaders and supporters, SPF spokesperson N Biren told reporters.

It also approved Revised Pay Scale for Government Polytechnic teachers.
Meanwhile, the Senapati District Women Association, demanding immediate call-off of the ongoing general strike, termed the state government a communal government.
In a press release emailed to Hueiyen Lanpao stated that the present government of the state had countered the Nagas during their peaceful demonstration and forcefully opened the NH 39 by deploying Commandos and IRBs within 6 hours of commencement of the demonstration.
However, the government is not doing anything to counter or subdue the agitation by deploying Commandos and IRBs.
The bias nature of the government shows off the true communal nature of the SPF government, it alleged.
