Foolproof security on NHs from Aug 16, decrees Cabinet SHDDC members proceed to Delhi

Even as the State Cabinet today has once again reviewed the situation prevailing along the National Highways following imposition of indefinite economic blockade and general strike over the demand for upgrading Sadar hills to a full-fledged district, representatives of the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee left for Delhi today to seek an appointment with the Prime Minister.
Briefing mediapersons after the Cabinet meeting, spokesperson of the SPF Government and IFCD Minister N Biren informed that after a minute discussion, the Cabinet decided to deploy foolproof security along the two National Highways to ensure normal traffic from August 16 or 17 .
Towards this, the Cabinet has instructed departments and agencies concerned to ensure foolproof security along Imphal-Dimapur Road and ImphalJiribam road from August 16 and 17 so as to resume normal vehicular traffic.

Meanwhile representatives of the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee left for Delhi to seek an appointment with the Prime Minister.
The representatives are set to present their case to the Prime Minister.
Talking to The Sangai Express a reliable source said that members of the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council will start heading for Delhi from tomorrow.
The three MLAs from Sadar Hills are also expected to start heading for Delhi from August 14 .
In case the Centre fails to give a positive response then a protest will be held at Jantar Mantar, where others are expected to join.
With regard to the recruitment of primary teachers, the Government spokesperson informed that the Cabinet has approve the declaration of the result on merit basis since the DPC for all the advertised 1423 posts had already been conducted.
In connection with the expansion and upgradation of Hotel Imphal to a 5 star hotel, the Cabinet has agreed to the acquisition of all the required land in Naga River Colony including standing properties on payment of necessary compensation, the Government spokesperson said, adding that land owners have to submit application for claiming compensation against their standing properties through DC Imphal West.
Today's Cabinet meeting has also recommended extension of 6th Central Pay to the employees of ITI, the spokesperson added.
