Agricultural tour concluded

A farmer's tour to Himachal Pradesh conducted by 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) from July 25 to August 11 was concluded today.
The tour team visited various renowned institutes like Nauni Horticulture University, Solan, Mushroom Research Project, Chambaghat, Agriculture institute, Potato Research Institute and Apple Orchards at Kufri, Seeds Research Institute, Tutikandi and model villages around district Solan.
The aim of the tour was to expose farmers from Ukhrul District to scientific methods of cultivation and use of modern farming techniques.
The focus of the tour was to encourage economic empowerment through agriculture and discourage cultivation of ganja and poppy.
Interaction with imminent scientists and scholars to enriched experience was also held in which the farmers were able to receive practical tips and innovative ideas on the subject.
As a parting gift, the farmers were presented with hybrid variety of wheat especially researched and developed for cultivation in NE region.
The farmers on their way back stopped at Delhi, where they visited various sites of historical importance like Old Fort, Rajghat, Kisan Ghat, India Gate and President's House and witnessed the variedness of culture and traditions.
The visit helped the farmers to gain professionally, socially and served to integrate them into the national mainstream, thus making them an important part in the overall development and growth of the Nation.
