Imphal, August 11 2011:
Keishamthong Humanitarian Development Committee in association with intending candidate of Trinamool Congress in Keishamthong a/c, RK Sivachandra will launch an indefinite sit-in protest in this constituency in protest against the ongoing blockade on the National Highways of the state.
Speaking to media persons in a press conference held at his residence, RK Sivachandra said that national highways have been spared even in war time.
But in Manipur even vehicles procuring medical items hasn't been spared, leave alone national highways.
This trend has been continuing for quite sometime.
To block National highways on petty issues is not commendable at all.
Strongly condemning the blockade of NHs, RK Sivachandra said that to starve the entire people of the state just considering the demands of a single community is not the right approach.
The agitators should come up with other strategies and put forward their demands.
Bandhs and blockades should be avoided as far as possible.
Only big businessmen benefit from it while majority of the people suffer.
As such the government should solve the problem at the earliest possible time.
He further said that the Nagas of the state has also started reacting to SHDDC's demand for a full fledged district of Sadar Hills.
The state government should take note of all these current changes creeping up among different sections of the society and bring a solution to the problem.
If the blockade still continue and no solution is brought between the state and SHDDC then a series of agitations will be initiated throughout Keishamthong assembly constituency.
As a part of the agitation sit- in protest will be staged in all parts of the constituency from tomorrow.
Further all preparations has been made to form human chain from Palel to Moreh in case the blockade could not be halted by the government.
