MLA Rameshwor feted; Brinda, Romen hold poll events

A felicitation programme for State Planning Board deputy chairman and Keirao MLA Lourembam Rameshwor was organised by Arapti Urup Gram Panchayat Demand Committee at Arapti Mayai Leikai Kangjeibung on Sunday as a part of celebration of state cabinet's decision taken on November 24 to shift Arapti Urup polling stations 6-12 and 6-13 from Lilong Thoubal Municipal Council to Imphal East Zilla Parishad.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA L Rameshwor, on behalf of the people of Arapti Urup, thanked chief minister N Biren and rural development and panchayati raj minister Th Biswajit for the recent cabinet decision allowing formation of Arapti Urup Gram Panchayat.
Rameshwor also lambasted the previous MLA of Keirao AC for keeping the constituency underdeveloped, while pointing out the various developmental works he has taken up during his tenure.
The programme was also attended by Arapti Urup Gram Panchayat Demand Committee advisors Thongram Parijat, Khullem Achoubi and convener Wahengbam Birchandra.
Meanwhile, an election meeting in support of intending candidate from Yaiskul AC Thounaojam Brinda was held at Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak on Sunday.
The programme organised by Central Election Committee of Th Brinda, Yaiskul AC was attended by Angom ningthou (king), Kuki Women's Union Manipur advisor Rose Mangshi Haokip, All Zeliangrong Students' Union former president John Panmei, retired commandant Akoijam Ibomcha, Shree Shree Govindajee Temple Board official Rajkumar Ronel and social activist Kiran Yendrenbam.
People from various parts of the state, who are supporting Th Brinda, were also present at the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Brinda pointed out that state is facing multiple problems such as lack of development, economic stagnation, corruption, increasing number of non-locals, menace of drugs among the youth, large scale poppy plantation in hills, etc., to which the government has remained a mute spectator.
Similarly, a house campaign of intending NPP candidate from Singjamei AC Oinam Romen was launched from NPP Singjamei Block office to Singjamei Thongam Leikai on Sunday.
Speaking at the campaign, 0 Romen urged people to elect a right candidate for the AC in the upcoming 12th Manipur State Assembly Election and do not be intimated by muscle power.
