Imphal, November 28 2021:
Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo has stressed the need for amending The Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (MLR) Act in the interest of the people of the state.
Speaking at the inaugural function of a multipurpose community hall organised by Sagolband Young Pioneers' Organization (SYPO) at Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai here on Sunday, MLA Imo pointed out that as per the MLR Act people from the valley cannot buy land in the hill areas, a fact which has been accepted by all over the years.
However, the trend of the valley residents being made to acquire the permission from the hill people to buy land belonging to hill people in the valley area itself needs to be rectified.
There are numerous hassles involved in obtaining necessary documents for the purpose and the issue has already been brought up in the Assembly.
As such, the MLA said that if he were to be re-elected, he would prioritise the matter along with development matters concerning the constituency.
Imo urged the people to care fully elect only the competent candidates who can handle the issues of the state, considering one term last around 5 years.
Regarding the multipurpose community hall, the MLA informed that it was constructed with the LADF and will be beneficial to the people.
The inaugural function was attended by elderly citizens Elangbam Mangi, Ngangbam Brajachand; Horticulture retired additional director Chongtham Chaoba; DM University Physics Department retired HOD RK San-atomba; IMC Ward no 7 corporator RK Jiten, ex-members Oinam Megha and Chongtham Tombi and SYPO president Elangbam Loken as the presidium members.
