Public discourse calls for exercising voting rights wisely

A one-day public discourse on 'Movement for updating agenda Manipur' organised by Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) has called upon the people of the state to exercise their voting rights wisely and choose the right candidates so as to bring about the much-needed changes in the state.
Veteran journalist Leihaothabam Sharatchandra moderated the discourse held at State Guest House, Sanjenthong here on Sunday.
Retired IAS Dr RK Nimai, Imphal Review of Arts and Politics editor Pradip Phanjoubam, MU department of economics associate professor Dr Chinglen Maisnam, DM College of Arts assistant professor Dr Arambam Noni and Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Manipur Campus assistant professor Dr Homen Thangjam presented their views as resource persons at the event.
The discourse adopted six resolutions while underscoring the need for updating the 'Agenda Manipur'.
Among the resolutions, the discourse called for making the election free & fair, and the need for exercising the voting right wisely to choose sincere, well-qualified and committed candidates bearing sense of patriotism.
Other resolutions include updating agenda for political parties and politicians for a strong society and to start a public movement to update the agenda for election.
A 'Working Committee on Updating Agenda Manipur' was also formed at the event with Longjam Ratan, Laishram Sanajaoba, Kongkham Kiran, Aheibam Anand, Nameirakpam Edison, Oinam Sital, Leishangthem Lamyanba, Mayengbam Somorjit, Nongthombam Thoithoiba, Ningthoujam Rishikanta, Thounaojam Somol, Chingsubam Manglemton, Chin-gangbam Suraj, Heikrujam Nilakanta Meitei and Waribam James as members.
