BJYM continues drive against drugs

Imphal, September 06 2022:
At least 11 drug users, some quantities of Heroin and one live round of AK-47 rifle were seized by a team led by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Manipur president M Barish during an anti-drug drive carried out at two separate locations in North AOC and Imphal East on Monday night.
The drive commenced around 9.30 am in North AOC area, wherein the team rounded up seven drug users from a place set up as a vendor for abusing/selling drugs like heroin.
The team also seized Rs 1.40 lakh in cash, and several syringes and vials containing heroin.
The drug users and the seized items were then picked up by a team of Imphal West district police.
After the drive in North AOC area, the BJYM team raided a house at Khongman Mangjil in Imphal East district.
During the drive, 3 people were found using drugs, of which 2 managed to flee from the area.
The remaining person revealed the details of drugs sale point at Khongman Zone -I, following which 2 suspected drug dealers were apprehended.
Based on the revelations made by the two people, the residence of one Okram Ajit at Singjamei Kshetri Leikai was also raided, wherein one air pistol, one live round of AK-47 rifle, 6 mobile phones and some quantities of heroin were seized.
The apprehended people and the seized items were later picked up by a team of Singjamei PS.
Speaking on the sidelines, BJYM president M Barish informed that based on reliable reports about drugs deals and indecent activities being carried out in North AOC area, a BJYM team conducted the drive wherein many people including young girls were found using drugs.
They were apprehended with the help of Imphal West Police.
Meanwhile, the drive at Khongman Mangjil was carried out based on information provided by the locals.
Although two out of the three drug users found at the spot managed to escape, the remaining person provided some information, which led to the arrest of three other people.
Barish then said that anti-drug drive campaign in the state will definitely be fruitful with the support of people.
