Tamenglong, August 02 2013 :
With talks between the frontal organizations and the Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong over the demand for developing Tamenglong-Khongsang road failed to arrive at an amicable solution, the stance to boycott the forth coming Indian Independence Day celebration in Tamenglong has remained unchanged.
Disclosing this to Hueiyen Lanpao, spokesman of the agitating frontal organizations Joseph Daimai, informed that during the meeting held at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner this evening, the DC was only focusing on land acquisition and DPR and requested to call off the boycott stand.
"But we would not retract our stand until our demand is met," Joseph made it clear.
It may be noted here that the Joint Forum for Transport Welfare, Tamenglong along with Zeliangrong Students' Union, Tamenglong District and Zeliangrong Youth Front Tamenglong are demanding development of the deplorable 39.5 km stretch Tamenglong- Khongsang road.
The frontal organisations had set 10 August 2013 as deadline to start the road construct work and warned of boycotting the forthcoming Independence Day celebration in the district if the demand is not met.
The frontal organisations on Thursday issued a press statement appealing all students, principals/ headmasters, youth clubs and general public to refrain from participating in the forthcoming Indian Independence Day celebration, 2013 .
