JAC launches indefinite bandh against Khuga Dam construction

Along with apprising the BJP led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre to take up pending issues related to Khuga Dam, its irregularities and misappropriations, a meeting of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Khuga Dam held at the residence of Paoboi Haokip at M Songgel, Tuibuong in Churachandpur today unanimously resolved to impose an indefinite bandh on Khuga Dam construction work with effect from tomorrow.
Besides instituting a 'Trustworthy Finance Committee', the meeting also reshuffled its office bearers with Lalpu Hangshing as Chairman, Thongkholen Chongloi as Vice Chairman, KL Thanga Vaiphei as Secretary, Sawmpim as Joint Secretary, while JL Tobert and Matea as active members.
The Finance committee members are Pauboi Haohop, TK Suan, Goulal, Dama, and N Sanga Paite.
The JAC on Khuga Dam Project appealed to the public to extend full co-operation so as to enjoy all the multi-purpose components like water supply, electricity, and water for terrace cultivation.
Lalpu Hangshing said the JAC has been unceasingly continuing its bandh on Khuga Dam until and unless the goals of the people of Churachandpur are achieved.
