Lamka, July 08 2014:
The Government has issued an order to repair the Khuga canal that breached last week, this time roping the service of farmers, who are dependent on the canal to cultivate their paddy-fields but the move interestingly revived the JAC on Khuga Dam which has been sluggish of late.
Parts of the canal again caved in early last week at near Daizang village, cutting off the crucial water source for hundreds of farmers and damaging about one Pari of paddy field.
Days later, on Sunday Singngat MLA had visited the site and entrusted the Eastern Khuga Right-side Canal Farmers' Association to repair the part that breach-ed, reportedly with due con- sent of the Minister concerned.
The breach is the first case this year.
Incidentally, the news has invoked revival of the JAC which was once a vocal force opposing the inauguration of the Khuga Dam before it is fully completed and all pending bills cleared by the government.
