Imphal, July 08 2014:
A large number of Manipur University students today staged a protest demonstration within the university campus apart from trying to storm the administrative block which houses the Vice Chancellor's office against the MU authority's alleged failure to declare exam results in time.
According to a student, 1st semester exam for Education Department was held in December 2013 but results of the same exam have not been declared till date.
Even as the same matter has been taken up with Head of Department Prof Lairen repeatedly, no response has been forthcoming.
Moreover, the Vice Chancellor remains a mute spectator all this while much to the annoyance of the students.
The student even questioned if the Head of Department and the Vice Chancellor are conniving to ruin the students' career.
She said that intense modes of agitation would be launched in case the exam results are not declared by July 13 .

MU Students' Union Revival Demand Committee convenor Th Suresh alleged that Manipur University has become a place of all kinds of fraudulent and corrupt practices.
One glaring example is letting the students join 3rd semester classes without declaring results of the 1st semester exam.
Although MU is now a central university, exam results were never declared on time.
It's a matter of shame that the MU authority cannot declare results of the exam held last year.
If the Head of Department was discharging his duties properly, exam results could have been declared in time even if 1000 students appeared in the exam.
But only 36 students appeared in the said exam whose results are being kept withheld till date.
This is a clear indication that the Head of Department is totally indifferent to students' well being, Suresh said while demanding the MU authority to remove Prof Lairen from his post immediately.
The VC instead of looking after what is happening inside the campus has been waiting for complaints.
It was because of the VC's failure to monitor performance of different faculties of the university which triggered today's protest demonstration.
Suresh also urged the concerned authority to appoint Examination Controller at the earliest.
Later, students of Education Department and MUSU Revival Demand Committee submitted 9-point charter of demands to the VC.
In case the charter of demands are not transformed into action at the earliest, MUSU RDC would launch different kinds of agitation, Suresh said.
Meanwhile, it is reported that 1st semester exam results of Education Department would be declared within 48 hours and Head of Department Prof Lairen would be removed from his post within the same time period.
