Works Minister inspects roads

Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and MLA Karam Thamarjit today inspected transport infrastructure of Keirao A/C .
The team led by Dr Ratankumar included representatives of the Educational Development and Health Promotion Council and the team inspected existing conditions of roads and bridges at Keirao, Langdum and other places of the Assembly segment.
Speaking to the accompanying media persons, Dr Ratankumar said that due process for repairing the 11.85 Kms long road which connects Imphal-Yairipok road with Waithou would be initiated after the forthcoming Assembly session.
Informing that enquiry report of the sinking of bridge built of Leishang Hiden at Kyamgei has been received, the Minister disclosed about the report's recommendation for another enquiry at a higher level.
Nonetheless, there is plan to dismantle the lop-sided bridge and construct it anew.
Regarding the sinking of another bridge at Keirao Litan Makhong, Dr Ratankumar said a portion of the bridge sunk due to errors while fitting firmers.
Necessary actions have been initiated against the concerned contractors and engineers.
The bridge is being constructed anew.
The team also inspected worn IVRs of Keirao Bitra in addition to making field study whether the suspension bridge being constructed at Urup can be replaced by a bailey bridge.
