Imphal, July 08 2014:
The Joint Action Coordination Committee (JACC) has demanded to resign education minister M Okendro Singh for not translating his own word into action in connection with the sending of necessary teachers for the Jiribam sub division.
It may be mentioned that the students of Jiribam had launched intense agitation since the last many days demanding for sending teachers there.
For this matter, the JACC has on Monday convened a press meet at the office of Kangleipak Student's Association.
During the press meet, the convener of the JACC stated that the problem arising from the shortfall of teachers have been in the sub division since long back and the Govt of Manipur has time and again given assurance to solve the problem by sending adequate number teachers for the sub division.
However, no teachers are available in the sub division as they were returned back after giving report to the concerned authority.
He continued that the students of the sub division had launched total blockade on the Imphal Jiri road stretch of National Highway since July 3 last so as to attract the attention of the Govt of Manipur.
He also demanded to recruit local people as teachers from other district are not residing in the sub division.
Expressing his concern on the issue, the JACC member M Angamba Meitei mentioned that teachers who are posted in Jiribam seldom went there and the Govt has not taken action against the teachers.
He opined that all this was happened due to non adoption of rationalisation policy and demanded to introduce rationalisation policy for the transfer of the teachers.
